Reuters CEO Tom Glocer and Chief Operating Officer Devin Wenig turned citizen journalists at this year’s World Economic Forum, as part of a project allowing reporters to file from their mobile phone.

Reuters equipped 14 reporters, and 10 other company chief executives, professors and bloggers with a mobile journalism package.

It meant that they were able to conduct interviews, film videos and take photos with their mobile phone, and send them directly to reuters.com for publication. Examples can be seen on Reuters Davos blog .

Reuters and Nokia have been working together on the mobile journalism project, which allows journalists in the field to use a Nokia phone to file their stories.

The phone can take high resolution photos, videos, record sound, and comes with a small keyboard so journalists can upload fully-packaged multi-media news stories to the internet. The citizen journalists at the World Economic Forum included Tom and Devin, as well as Richard Edelman, the chief executive of Edelman, a public relations firm, and Martin Sorrell, the chief executive of WPP, an advertising company. They were all able to record and send their own news stories to Reuters editorial for publication on Reuters website.
