In mid-May, Tropical Cyclone Roanu swept across Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh, triggering strong winds, landslides and widespread flooding which submerged swathes of the sub-continent. The torrential rains and floods killed more than 120 people and affected hundreds of thousands. Sources of livelihoods, such as rice fields, have also been damaged.
