Thomson Reuters Foundation scoops another round of awards

LONDON (Trust.org) – Thomson Reuters Foundation's media development service, TrustMedia has been commended by the GBC Health Awards for the 'Women's Health and Opportunity Reporting' project in the 'Health & Beyond: Tackling Root Causes' category.

John Tedstrom, President and CEO of GBCHealth said: "Collectively, these programs demonstrate the unique power of business to help overcome our world's most pressing health challenges. Congratulations to our winners and to all companies who are making a positive difference in the lives of their workers, their communities and beyond."

AlertNet Climate, the climate change news service has been selected as an Official Honoree of the 16th Annual Webby Awards in the Green category.

With nearly 10,000 entries received from all 50 US states and over 60 countries, the Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top 15% of all work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement.

Last but not least, TrustLaw Connect, the free legal assistance platform for NGOs and social entrepreneurs was shortlisted by the Charity Awards from hundreds of entries in the 'Advice, support and advocacy' category.

Daniel Phelan, organiser of The Charity Awards comments: ''In being shortlisted Thomson Reuters Foundation has already demonstrated that it is amongst the best managed charities in the UK. I wish them and all shortlisted charities the best of luck on the night."

TrustLaw Connect was also shortlisted by the Lawyer Awards in the 'Pro Bono team of the year' category.

The Lawyer Awards organizers said: 'The standard of entries this year was exceptional - those making the shortlist are true market leaders.'

The awards follow a spate of others received by Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2011:

* AlertNet awarded an EPPY Award for the "Best News Website" category

* Trust.org awarded an EPPY Award in the "Best Overall Website Design" category

* AlertNet awarded a gold trophy for "Best News Site" at the Lovie Awards.

* AlertNet winner of a "Voices of Courage" award from the Women's Refugee Commission (WRC).

* Thomson Reuters Foundation gets "Best Annual Report" award at the Digital Communications Awards.

* TrustMedia winner of a "Commended Company" designation by the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria for its innovative journalist training on health reporting.

* EIS gets "Best Use of New Media" at the Social Innovation Awards.
