TrustLaw Connect today passed a milestone, marking its 400th connection between pro bono lawyers and NGOs or social enterprises with a new project in Japan.

Law firm Atsumi & Sakai announced it will conduct research on Japanese women's rights for the International Models Project on Women's Rights (IMPOWR).

IMPOWR is creating an online database, cataloguing laws relating to women's rights all over the world.

Atsumi & Sakai are helping them on legislation relating to women's economic development in Japan, encompassing divorce, inheritance, mortgages and loans.

We are very pleased to be expanding our work in Japan, where lawyers have limited opportunities to get involved in impactful cross-border pro bono projects such as this.

Thirty-five of TrustLaw's 250 law firms and in-house legal teams have offices in Japan.

Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
