Applications are now open for the much-prized Reuters Foundation Fellowships at the University of Oxford for the academic year 2007/8.

The Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme offers an opportunity for established journalists working full-time for a print, broadcast or on-line media organisation to take a 3 or 6 month study break at Oxford.   This long-established programme for mid-career journalists is hosted by the new Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism within the university’s renowned Department of Politics and International Affairs. Priority will be given to journalists proposing research projects within the areas of focus of the Institute.

Details of these can be found at our website  http://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/  Other research areas can be considered providing these are clearly related to the professional work of applicants and will lead to greater excellence in journalism.

The selection panel will look for applicants who can use experience and knowledge gained during the fellowship to influence and extend debate and information on these issues when they return to their workplace.   Applicants must have at least five years' professional journalism experience; and in addition, be able to submit work samples and a study proposal.   These fellowships run for three or six months, starting in either October 2007 or January 2008. All travel costs, living expenses and university fees are covered. The deadline for receipt of applications for the Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme has been extended to 30th March 2007.

Full information on how to apply can be found at http://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/fellowships/ or contact reuters.institute@politics.ox.ac.uk
