Beijing-based photographer David Gray has won Australia’s top press photography award. His portfolio of 10 images showcased his coverage of the earthquake in China, the Olympic Games, Tibet and daily life in China. It is his second win at the Walkley Awards, having won the prize for sports photographer of the year in 1997. David dedicated his award to his friend and colleague Harry Burton, the Reuters TV cameraman who was killed covering the war in Afghanistan in 2001.
