NEW YORK (AlertNet)- Gregory Elias Adams spoke with AlertNet at the "Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty and Inequality" rally in New York about the Millennium Development Goals - eight global targets set by the United Nations in 2000 to be achieved by 2015 intended to improve the standard of living for the world's poor.

The rally was organized by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, and timed to coincide with a three-day U.N. summit, which begins on Monday to assess the status of the Millennium Development Goals and whether they are achievable.
