SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine, Oct 11 (Reuters) - A cargo vessel with a 13-strong crew sank in the Kerch strait between the Black and Azov seas on Monday and at least one person died, a Ukrainian emergencies ministry official said.

Nine people had been rescued so far and one body found, he said. Search operations were continuing.

The "Vasiliy", operating under a Mongolian flag, was carrying a load of 3,000 tonnes of scrap metal. The crew comprised 10 Russians and three Ukrainians. (Writing by Pavel Polityuk; editing by Mark Heinrich)
