Bollywood dancingOxfam were honoured to attend a fundraising event in Liverpool for the devastating floods in Pakistan on Friday 29th October. This event was jointly hosted by Plus dane housing, voice for the voiceless and the African business association. Community stalls and information about local events and organisations were available during the afternoon for residents - Yet as the evening grew darker the fun really began!! Food, dancing and a fashion show were the main highlights ? A delicious African / south east Asian feast was provided to great delight of all who attended. Bollywood dancing by a local group provided some excellent entertainment and a Zimbabwean rap group sung us some good tunes that got us all dancing. Marie, Our community campaigner, gave a talk about the work that Oxfam has done in response to the Pakistan floods and encouraged people to not forget them now the intial crisis has passed. A raffle, a beautiful fashion show and an art show ensued later in the evening followed by a guided dancing session by Movema ? She got everyone up out of their chair and made them work off the lovely food ? she defiantly got everyone moving! The fundraising target of £1000 was certainly raised ? this money will be going directly to those affected by the floods. The evening bought together people from many different cultures for a really fun night of food, music and dancing to raise money for a good cause.
