SEOUL, Dec 8 (Reuters) - South Korean stocks and the won currrency fell briefly on media reports neighbouring North Korea had fired an artillery round off its west coast, but recovered their losses when it emerged it was a military drill.
"We have not heard of anything on the fire, but the South and the North are recently carrying out their own military drills," said a military official in Seoul.
"We are currently checking details on the report," another official said. "It appears as if it was heard from a far distance".
