KARACHI, Dec 28 (Reuters) - A blast was heard at the main state-run university in Pakistan's biggest city of Karachi on Tuesday, but the cause and the damage were unknown, a senior university official said.

"I have heard the sound of a blast but I am not sure what caused it and where exactly it was in the campus," Kaleem Raza Khan, registrar of the University of Karachi, told Reuters.

Local television channels reported that the blast happened in the cafeteria of the university and there were some injuries.
