KABUL, Feb 14 (Reuters) - An explosion hit downtown Kabul, near a shopping centre, on Monday afternoon, a police source said. The source did not know the cause of the blast or the extent of any damage.

A suicide attack late last month on a supermarket frequented by foreigners in the centre of the Afghan capital killed at least nine people. Several insurgent groups claimed responsibility. (Reporting by Hamid Shalizi, writing by Emma Graham-Harrison, editing by Paul Tait)
