KINSHASA, July 8 (Reuters) - Rescuers at the site of a plane crash in Democratic Republic of the Congo on Friday have pulled out 40 survivors so far from the 112 people who were on board the plane, Congo's government spokesman said.

"The crash happened about 200 metres from Kisangani airport during landing in heavy rain. We have already removed 40 survivors," government spokesman Lambert Mende said. "The rescue operations are continuing." (Reporting by Bienvenu-Marie Bakumanya and Jonny Hogg; writing by Tim Cocks)
