Indian police have arrested three teenagers accused of gang-raping a 14-year-old girl and then setting her on fire, leaving her fighting for her life in hospital with 97-percent burns, the Times of India reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the three boys entered the girls home in the town of Nashik in western India while her family was out and took turns to rape her, before dousing her with kerosene and setting her alight.

"Since, no one was nearby, the girl could not be shifted to hospital immediately," said the report, adding that the she was now being treated in a local hospital.
