KHARTOUM, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Sudan's government said it repulsed a large attack by rebel fighters in an oil-producing southern border state on Monday, and accused South Sudan of supporting the insurgents.

"Hundreds of soldiers from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (in South Kordofan) were killed during an attack on the city of Teloudi this morning," Ahmed Haroun, governor of the war-stricken South Kordofan state, told reporters by telephone.

A spokesman for the Sudanese army said the rebels had received training in South Sudan. The report could not be independently verified and a South Sudan army spokesman was not immediately available to comment. (Reporting by Khaled Abdelaziz; Writing by Alexander Dziadosz)
