Kenyan minister is expected to testify as a prosecution witness against her husband who has been charged with theft of public funds

NAIROBI (TrustLaw) – A Kenyan minister is expected to testify as a prosecution witness against her husband who has been charged with theft of public funds, the Daily Nation newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Metropolitan assistant minister Elizabeth Ongoro’s husband, Ferdinand Masha Kenga, appeared in court on Tuesday and denied stealing Kenya shillings 1.9 million ($19,000) from a government fund intended for development projects in his wife’s Nairobi constituency.

Ongoro is listed as a key prosecution witness.

Two months ago, Kenga denied reports that he had been hospitalised after being battered by his wife. He said that he fell over and lost consciousness.
