Incumbent Kabila wins Congo election - election commission

KINSHASA, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Incumbent Joseph Kabila has won Democratic Republic of Congo's presidential election, beating his nearest rival Etienne Tshisekedi, according to provisional results announced by the national election commission chief during a news conference on Friday.

"The electoral commission notes that the candidate Joseph Kabila has achieved a majority with, 8,880,944 votes, or 48.97 percent of votes cast," Daniel Ngoy Mulunda said. (Reporting by Jonny Hogg; Writing by Bate Felix)
