KINSHASA, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The main opposition challenger in Democratic Republic of Congo's election declared himself president on Friday, rejecting official provisional results issued by the electoral commission that handed victory to the incumbent, Joseph Kabila.

"I consider these results a real provocation of the Congolese people. As a consequence, I consider myself, from today, the elected president of the Democratic Republic of Congo," Tshisekedi said on RFI Radio. (Reporting by Bate Felix; Writing by Richard Valdmanis; Editing by Tim Pearce)
