KHARTOUM, Dec 25 (Reuters) - Sudan&${esc.hash}39;s armed forces claimed on Sunday to have killed the head of the western Darfur region&${esc.hash}39;s most powerful rebel group, the Justice and Equality Movement, state media said.

"The armed forces announces the death of Khalil Ibrahim in the area of Wad Banda in North Kordofan state at dawn today," the state news agency SUNA said in a text message sent to mobile phones, without adding details.
