Programme Officer - Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

In this role, you’ll support Plan’s Country Office staff to implement a portfolio of at least four Water and Sanitation projects in Africa, and particularly support local staff to monitor project progress, support evaluations and facilitate learning. You will also participate in learning networks within the sector and coordinate on issues relating to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at Plan UK.

Your role will also include supporting the development of new proposals to institutional donors relating to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. You’ll be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with institutional donors, and making sure the projects in your portfolio are compliant with donor contractual requirements.

To do all this, you should have at least two years’ experience in supporting and managing sizeable development projects, and you’ll understand donor environments and contractual requirements. You’ll have experience of supporting rural water and sanitation projects, particularly in Africa, and knowledge of sustainable approaches to rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene. You’ll also be able to support project implementation at a distance, manage budgets and facilitate training.

You must be able to converse, read and write fluently in French.
