KHARTOUM, Oct 23 (Reuters) - A fire broke out following an explosion late on Tuesday in an area of the Sudanese capital Khartoum where military facilities are located, residents said.

"There was a very loud explosion and you can see now a huge fire," one resident said. From a distance, a Reuters witness could see black smoke and fire while approaching the area in the southern part of Khartoum.

Authorities were not immediately available for comment. (Reporting by Ulf Laessing and Khalid Abdelaziz; Editing by Michael Roddy)
