The Global Journal exclusive NGO Top100 list was selected from 450 candidates around the globe. Danish Refugee Council is ranked first in the world among humanitarian NGOs and fourth in in the world across all sectors.
Continuing to refine its evaluation methodology, The Global Journal considered a pool of approximately 450 NGOs this year based on three key criteria: impact, innovation and sustainability.
“It is of course a difficult task to compare humanitarian NGOs. However, with the extensive documentation and in-depth analysis behind this year’s TOP100 list – we are very proud of our ranking. As it recognizes DRCs leading humanitarian role in zones of conflict around the world,” says DRC Secretary General Andreas Kamm.
Under the headline: “Setting the standard in complex emergencies Global Journal writes: Currently operating in over 35 countries in service of more than 1.5 million people, the Danish Refugee Council has developed an enviable reputation for itself as a leading actor in insecure environments, including through the respected conflict zone work of the Danish Demining Group, the organization’s dedicated humanitarian mine action unit.”
“With major relief operations in countries like Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria and South Sudan we have to keep developing our programmes and skills. The scenarios are complex often combining famine, floods or other natural emergencies with ongoing conflict and displacement – we intend to keep refining our operations to assist more beneficiaries,” says Andreas Kamm.
