February 5th, 2013 - Kris Kotarski The Kenya Editors’ Guild, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, IWPR, and the Wayamo Communication Foundation have come together to organise several training sessions for a select group of editors, sub-editors and reporters in the run-up to the elections on March 4, 2013. On February 6 2013, the Editors’ Guild, IWPR and Wayamo are hosting an Editors Breakfast Meeting to discuss challenges faced by media organisations in the run up to the general election and the start of four cases before the International Criminal Court, ICC, in The Hague. The discussions will focus on conflict-sensitive approaches that could be adopted by journalists and editors. Topics: - Threats against journalists and other pressures on journalists and editors. - Ushahidi/iHub’s findings in monitoring hate speech. - Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, KNCHR, monitoring and reporting on incidents that may trigger violence. - Concerns and needs of the Editors Guild.
