NEWS: Food Relief for Pakistan Earthquake Survivors
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked the Iran-Pakistan border on April 16, killing 40 people. In the Pakistani provinces of Sindh and Balochistan, many more people were wounded, and hundreds of families were left homeless.
Last week, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) sent a grant to partner Church World Service, Pakistan/Afghanistan, to help cover the costs of providing emergency food rations for a month to vulnerable families in Balochistan who were displaced by the disaster.
Your support for International Disaster Response, UMCOR Advance ${esc.hash}982450, underwrites UMCOR’s efforts to bring relief to vulnerable communities such as these that are overcome by disasters.
PRAYERS: Tornado Survivors
Please keep in prayer all those who, in communities from Texas to Minnesota, have suffered the destructive effects of severe weather over the past week. Especially remember those in Granbury, Texas, Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Moore, Oklahoma, where dozens of lives were lost and homes, schools, and medical facilities destroyed in separate events. UMCOR is in contact with the Central Texas Annual Conference and the Oklahoma Conference, and asks your prayers for all who have been affected by the Midwest tornadoes. And please remember that first-responders need to complete their tasks before volunteers can be of any real help. Please check the conference websites for more information.
