WASHINGTON, May 31 (Reuters) - The United States and NATO plan to hold a summit meeting in 2014 to discuss troop withdrawals from Afghanistan, President Barack Obama said on Friday after a meeting with the alliance's head, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Obama said that Afghanistan was the main topic of talks between the two. Rasmussen said combat troops would be home by the end of 2014 but that NATO will prepare a training mission for 2015 with a smaller number of troops. (Reporting by Roberta Rampton and Mark Felsenthal; Editing by Vicki Allen)
