Gunfire and loss in Syria

by Reuters

Amateur video purports to show Syrian rebels clashing with government forces and also the aftermath of a rocket attack.

A barrage of gunfire as rebel forces launch an attack in Damascus.

The video, which can not be independently verified by Reuters comes as Saudi Arabia is calling on the world community to take all necessary steps to deter the violence.

But no one is putting down arms.

The focus on Syria has sharpened as the international community response to the suspected use of chemical weapons in the war.

U.S. President Obama is delaying any military strike to consult Congress -- a move Damascus is calling it a "historic American retreat."

The conflict in Syria has already cost the lives of more than 100,000 people. Many more have been wounded.

In other parts of the country chaos fills the streets. After more than two and a half years the country is literally being torn apart.

As world powers debate over what should be done, on the ground for many loss and destruction are becoming a party of every day life.
