Deadly Philippine quake hits Bohol and Cebu

The earthquake that brought chaos to the central Philippines on Tuesday was put at 7.2 magnitude.

At least six people died as the powerful tremors brought down buildings on the islands of Cebu and Bohol.

Other buildings were damaged.

Both islands are popular with tourists.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake at a depth of about 56 kilometres.

No tsunami warnings have been issued in its wake.

The total numbers of dead and injured could not be immediately confirmed.
