Iranian guards killed fighting bandits on Pakistan border -report

DUBAI, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Fourteen Iranian border guards were killed and five wounded in clashes with "armed bandits" on the country's southeastern boundary with Pakistan overnight, Iran's state news agency reported.

The report gave no more details on the identity of the people who fought with the border guards.

"In armed clashes that occurred overnight between border agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and armed bandits on the borders of the city of Saravan in southeast Sistan va Baluchistan (province), 14 border guards were martyred," the IRNA news agency quoted an unnamed official as saying.
