WASHINGTON, Dec 17 (Reuters) - An aircraft crash in southern Afghanistan killed six American soldiers on Tuesday, a U.S. defense official said.

The NATO-led military command in Kabul said the crash was under investigation but did not appear, initially at least, to be the result of insurgent attack.

It was the most deadly incident for foreign soldiers in Afghanistan in months. (Reporting by Missy Ryan; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
