South Sudan: Death, Desease, and Displacement

by Fabio Basone / MSF | @digital_mole | Medecins Sans Frontieres - UK

MSF Doctor, Christine Bimansha, speaks about her experience treating patients in the UN Compound in Juba, while displaced people in both Juba and Awerial talk of their experiences having fled their homes. In Juba about 30,000 to 35,000 people have sought refuge in two overcrowded UN compounds in the capital, and are too afraid to go back home. Some 70,000 people fleeing fighting in Bor, capital of Jonglei state, have settled in the vicinity of Awerial, some 30 kms away from Bor, with more arriving daily by boat (an average of 18 boats per day).

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare.
