Kurt Schork Memorial Fund – 2014 awards submissions reminder

Journalists are reminded that May 31 is the deadline date for submitting entries for this year’s Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism.

Two awards, one to a freelance journalist covering international news, the other for a local reporter working in a developing nation or country in transition, will be honoured at an awards ceremony to be held in London on Thursday, October 30, with each receiving a US $5000 cash prize.

The prestigious awards, to be held this year for the 13th time, are named in memory of the American freelance journalist Kurt Schork, who was killed while on assignment for Reuters in Sierra Leone in 2000.

The Kurt Schork Memorial Fund’s judges will be looking for writing of a high journalistic standard and for evidence of special determination and courage in obtaining the story.

Entrants must submit three articles each – published between June 1, 2013 and May 31, this year. Details about eligibility and entry criteria, and an online submission form, are available on the awards’ official website www.ksmfund.org
