SAN FRANCISCO, May 14 (Reuters) - A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg outside a Northern California high school in a possible drive-by shooting on Wednesday, and the school was placed on lockdown, local media reported.
The teenager was walking near Kennedy High School in the Bay Area community of Richmond at about 8:30 a.m. local time when he was shot in the leg by a round of gunfire, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper reported, citing local police.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds, the paper said.
The Chronicle reported that there were no other injuries and that police were trying to determine if the incident was a drive-by shooting.
Kennedy High School was placed on lock-down as a precaution.
