Interview recorded in October 2014
Monica Araya, founder of Nivela - a development think tank based in Costa Rica - discusses how climate change, and the security threat it poses, must be covered by the media in a way that highlights people rather than facts and figures.
This interview was filmed in London in October 2014 at the Global Security Seminar, a gathering of top journalists and security experts. Some of what is said may have been overtaken by more recent developments.
The Global Security Seminar is organised by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, The Stanley Foundation and Gerda Henkel Stiftung.
The video was produced by journalism students at Bournemouth University's Media School.
