Fighting between the Taliban and Islamic State, and between the Taliban and Afghan forces has intensified amid peace talks to end the war
KABUL, May 13 (Reuters) - Three explosions rocked the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Monday killing at least three people and injuring 20, a provincial official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said the blasts were caused by explosives placed in the crowded market square and several injured people were rushed to hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Jalalabad is the capital of Nangarhar province, which is on the border with Pakistan.
It has become the main stronghold in Afghanistan of Islamic State, which has grown into one of Afghanistan's most dangerous militant groups since it appeared around the beginning of 2015.
